Having friends locally is pretty awesome
We went to the zoo this afternoon with friends. We saw gorillas and chimps and monkeys and tree kangaroos and a koala and hippos and zebras and quite a few birds. The kids climbed on many things and practice jumping from rock to rock and none got hurt. There was adult conversation and picnic food and we got to play with the kids in the leaves.

Rosie's nap got pushed late, so she's still asleep and might be hard to put to bed later, but I'm still glad we went.

I'm also pleased to note we recieved two invitations to thanksgiving dinner from friends who know we have no relatives in town. Two! As it is, we're planning to drive to my brother's in Tucson like we did last year, but I really appreciate having options if that falls through. And the caring that led to them. :)

Having dad here for almost two weeks reminded me of the type of support sometimes only family can give, but having good friends really helps too, and fills in some of those gaps.

Really really.
