Afghanistan is participating in the Miss Earth contest this year for the first time in 30 years. Their contestant looks skinny but also very happy. And she has a better bikini than many of the other contestants, IMHO.
My mother-in law, Nancy, is visiting for the weekend. Last night we went out to dinner with her and my parents. We ate at the Red Hawk. I had the Rainbow Trout salad and my mom had the Duck salad. The trout was all right (very light)- the potato salad they served with it was far too sweet for my tastes, but on the other side of the plate, the mustard sauce that was on the asparagus was the highlight of the dish. And the asparagus was perfectly cooked. The Duck, however, was fabulous. Mom gave me a taste of the roasted breast of duck with cherry chutney and I am definitely getting that next time I'm there. It was so good I asked for another taste, which is unlike me.
Also unusual was that after dinner Nancy and Bill and I were all very tired. We got home and sat around for a bit and finally around 7:30 or so I gave up struggling to keep my eyes closed and departed for bed.
I'm pleased to report, though, that I was good and did my knee exercises and some sit-ups before going to sleep. This has been a good week for exercise, mostly due to Mary, who has gone with me to the gym twice. Yay, Mary!
