Does anyone else dislike the halloween color theme thing here?
I picked my LJ style because I like it. Black and dripping red is not what I picked. Am I out of bounds thinking this is lame?

I'm only seeing it on the main pages, it's not overriding my personal style for my journal or my friendspage.

I'm seeing it inconsistently as the bar thing across the top of the page. I haven't figured out why yet - it's not showing up on my friends page, but I'm seeing on http://www.livejournal.com/ and when I look at some (but not all) of my friends pages using their styles.

I don't know why, but I'm not seeing it. But I see everything in my own style, because too many other folks' styles hurt my aged eyes. So maybe that's it? It took me hours to figure out what people were talking about.

Try clicking on "home" in your menu bar.

I sent them a HELP question asking how to get rid of it. I consider it HIGHLY offensive. It's like putting a religious symbol on someone's page - one that they don't subscribe to. If they want to celebrate All Hallow's Eve, fine - but don't try to force it on me.

Just another example of the complete and total CLUELESSNESS of the people who own and program this web site. I guess going to Ivy League Schools CAN be hazardous to a person's social and mental development.

No, I agree. It is pretty lame.

yeah... doing it for the day of would have been fine. For the whole week is just lame.

It reminds me of the general trend of extending holidays for marketing purposes. I like my holidays for short periods. Halloween should be a day, Christmas 12 days, etc. stores doing longer themes for shoppers, okay, I wince, but okay. But any other place, the celebrations should be limited. And optional if possible.

Also, for me? Halloween is about being scary, not gory. So the dripping blood thing annoys the hell out of me.

I don't see black and dripping red anywhere. Every page I've looked at looks perfectly normal.

I guess it depends what style and theme you're using. Or something.

If you have adblock, you might be able to block http://p-stat.livejournal.com/stc/horizon/halloween08/* and make it go away. I make no claims that won't break anything, but it's always reversible.

IF you have Firefox - you're still stuck with the crappy red and black color scheme - and red on black makes it REALLY hard to read - but you dohn't have to put up with the rest of it.

In Firefox go to
Tools
options
content
(Load images automatically (hit the "exceptions" button)
then in the small window above that wants the thing you want to block key in:
http://p-stat.livejournal.com/horizon/halloween08/logo.png

And even the LJ name disappears. (You may have to re-open the page)

I'm seeing it when I go to other peoples pages, but not on mine. It looks silly to me, and wish it were just for one day, if they must.

Only on a few pages, and it didn't affect my friend's page. So, no, I don't mind. It's temporarly and a break from the same-ol' same-ol'. To me it's like being surprised by a google holiday/special event design.

They guys cavorting in the graveyard in the logo would be like the google thing - cute, amusing visual design. Blood dripping down from the top of the page isn't appealing visual design to me.
