Yesterday Team Alpaca took to the streets - of Detroit! This was Brian's and my first time joining the team for a bicycle ride and it was really fun riding with friends, especially the first half of the ride where we mostly rode together. On the second leg I lost everyone and so decided to just open up and find out what my bike would do (how often do you have a police escort preventing cross traffic while going downslope on Grand River?) and though I slowed way down after that, the rest of the team did not catch up (except one person who was maintaining a pace that was beyond me at that point) and I rode much of the way back miserably alone. I later found out the pace car had *stopped* for ten minutes, holding most of the people there to let slower people catch up. But I was ahead of the pace car...
Anyway, generally it was a fun time, and I would do it again, preferably with better planning and communication so we don't get separated.
Jer posted a picture of the team for your viewing pleasure. Yes, I look like a dork. I don't know how Rennie and Kathy pull off that "looking cute even in a bike helmet" thing, I really don't. Maybe it's the sunglasses...
ETA: here's Rennie's post about it, and Here are the whole set of Jer's pictures.
