mmm.. interesting. I never keep as good track of the people coming to the ark as I probably should. But I've never heard of J. Keelaghan. Have you heard him in concert?
(we're kind of dedicated to the movie route now. Bill sent a message out to the juggling club inviting people to attend with us. But I'm still interested to know how you know Keelaghan and what you might comment about him.
I've heard him many times. Definitely worth flying in for the concert...only I'll be in California instead.
I believe I introduced Bruce to James Keelaghan. JK is a Canadian singer/songwriter who fits as well as anyone does into the slot left vacant by Stan Rogers' unfair death. James is widely read, especially in history. His song "Fires of Calais" describes the Dunkirk evacuation, for example. His song "Cold Missouri Waters" tells of the two smokejumpers who survived the Mann Gulch fire. Not everything he's done is so good, and I like his earliest work best, but he's a really gifted storyteller, adn he has a beautiful voice. James has lived in the western provinces but currently lives in Winnipeg, and of course is a regular on the folk festival circuit. He was the headline act at the MN Folk Festival in 2001.
K. [the way, the Ark is one of the world's premiere folk music venues; I wish we lived closer to Ann Arbor so we could go to shows there all the time]
