We have cleared off the tables, the leftovers stowed, washed the dishes and put them away
The fourth of July party was fun - thanks to everyone who stopped in. Especially sorcycat, who dropped off a big box of strawberries on her way to Origins. Those were great. Excellent party food, strawberries. Went well with the cookies and ribs and deviled eggs. And the backrubs.

Did learn a lesson at the party - do not suggest people bring stuff to grill during a movie marathon when it's not possible to see the movie screen from the grill. We never did cook burgers, but luckily there was plenty of ribs and corn.

Tonight I got the dishes under control, went for a nice walk to get milk and a bite to eat (made a short stop by Nicola's to ask them to let me know when Territory arrives), and came home and watched a couple of the episodes of Firefly we didn't get to yesterday. I also started in on the third volume of The Collected Stories of Robert Silverberg, which I am proofing for Bill Schafer.

I'm a bit blue lately, so it's good to have friends around and work to do. And great weather! It was quite lovely out tonight. Pregnant with possibilities and a touch of the philosophical. Appropriate to the song I was quoting in the title. Here's the chorus:

You can be anybody you want to be,
You can love whomever you will.
You can travel any country where your heart leads
and know I will love you still.

You can live by yourself, you can gather friends around
You can love one special one.
And the only measure of your words, and your deeds,
Will be the love you leave behind when you're done.

(hums through the next verse, to the best line:)
You can dream all your days, never reaching the end, of Everything Possible for you.

Sounds like the 4th went very well, sorry I missed it, minor illness and a cat vet appointment got in the way.

Its OK to be blue as long as you don't stay that way.

I was just thinking today I should write and let you know you were missed and make sure you're ok. Hope you're feeling better.

Working on it, the tension headaches are gone, still have the sniffles.

I really miss hanging out with you too.

Don't be blue
To a suede that's shoes...

OK, so maybe my Elvis-mangling isn't the best, but feel free to look me up if you're ever down near Chicago again...
