So, yesterday was pretty good. Slow to get moving in the morning.. rediscovered TNH's weblog, thanks to a post on timebinders by Lenny Bailes. Today's entry is a shmoo recipe (see, scallops are cookie-cutter portions of the shmoo, and sit in the grocery store hoping you'll cook them into a really nice sauce, unlike crabs... go read it, it's all there.
(she has such a nice sense of humor).
I don't know if livejournal counts as a weblog, or blog, or not. hmm.
anyway, the other main notable things I did yesterday were a) finally hanging the new towel rack on the cupboard that is to be used for dish-drying towels so they don't hang from the oven and get used by Bill for cooking (which sometimes results in their getting burnt) and b) going to visit Jean Barnard.
Jean is a lovely lady who turns 80-something on October 24, I believe, and who has historically been involved in SFOHA. she quit due to serious health problems and it seems Lloyd was mad at her, so now that he's gone (and she's mostly better), she's pleased to come to meetings again. I took her the minutes from the last meeting and the copy of The curse of Chalion Chad wanted me to loan to her.
She says she hasn't read a book since her stroke - more than a year ago now. She's very busy with many things, and she hopes to make use of me before I get a job, to help her clear some of the mess in her house. she's been collecting things for 30 years and now she needs to start getting rid of it. If anyone is interested in a whole bunch of Omni magazines, let me know. She also has a *complete* collection of TV Guide magazine, something I never even thought of as a magazine, but she's sure there's some special place that would be pleased to have a complete collection, and I'm sure she's right. We had tea and sat and talked and she gave me the tour 'round her house; it's a small house, just perfect for a single person. But right now it's crowded with boxes and boxes of clothes and newsletters and magazines and such. I'll probably go over again sometime next week and see if I can't help as well as visit.
As it is, I let her give me her copy of Sweeny Todd, the demon barber of Fleet Street, (the Musical), since I've never seen nor read it.
and I did more scrubbing of kitchen cupboards and washboards, including the floor of our pantry. Still have moths, and I'm worried they'll spread to someplace else in the house. *sigh*
Got to get the electronic copy of my thesis done today. cheerio
