Lighters Added to Prohibited Items List

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced that all lighters will be prohibited from sterile areas of airports and onboard aircraft. This action is in response to a provision in the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004, which was signed into law by the President on December 17, 2004. TSA Screeners will begin to enforce the ban on April 14, 2005.

For more information, please see the TSA web site at http://www.tsa.gov

They'd better also ban flint, then. And pieces of wood. So, no pencils allowed either -- not only are they a fire risk, but you could sharpen one of those things up and stab someone! Actually we'd better ban anything wooden while we're at it, so no Pinocchios.

Clothes banned from commercial travel carriers

The Office of Federal Travel Authority (OOFTA) announced a follow on program of banning all clothing from passengers on any commercial common carriers. Said Sam Lepinscram of the agency "It's just too much of a risk to allow anyone the possibility of hiding anything under clothing. It's for the good of all the people in the long run." The Office of the President could not be reached for comment on this ruling.
