Are you tired of hearing about Basement remodeling yet?
Last night Bill and I were planning to go see Money Rampant again, but instead we got caught up Shopping. For Sofas.

And we actually picked something! And we happened to choose a day when Art Van had a big sale/promotion thingy going on, so we'll have the sofa set (there are actually three pieces) for free for the first year and a half. And then we really have to pay them off or we get hit with 21 % interest.

We also picked out a really neat coffee table, one of those kinds where the top lifts up on a hinge so it becomes tall enough to eat off of when you're sitting on the sofa. My brother has one and we've wanted one ever since seeing his.

This is the first time we've ever bought new furniture, barring our beds. It's kind of exciting.

In other news, the one wall is all painted with light blue base and a sponged-on dark blue that gives it a sense of depth. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I painted it yesterday before work so my right hand looked all zombie-ish all day, with blue paint in my cuticles and under my nails.

And I finally found time to look at the ConFusion program book, which is very close to done and coming along nicely, and I've got almost a whole day to work on my presentation for tomorrow's interview. Their presentation guidlines suggested they prefer a portfolio or project review so I've scratched the other ideas and am presenting my thesis work. I even know what I'm going to wear. I'm feeling pretty good about that.

It's much nicer to read about someone else remodeling than being knee-deep in it yourself. I say this from the perspective of coming out on the other side of a basement remodel; beyond the excitment phase but not beyond the memory of some of the tedium and agony. After awhile you pick up on just how much gets edited out of all those home improvement shows :-D

well, and a lot of the things that take a lot of time are just the decisions. it reminds me of planning our wedding - after whiel we were just like, "can't we just pick the standard wedding setting and not have to pick the colors of the napkins?" and similarly We now have to pick cupboard styles for the cabinet doors for the fishtank/workbench. I don't look forward to that, even though I guess it could be viewed as a fun opportunity.
