I was just listenning to a piece on voter registration on NPR the other day, regarding how registration has historically been used to restrict the voting population. Voter registration is up this year, and there have been many Get out the Vote campaigns on both sides. Today Janann linked to an article suggesting that a company largely funded by the Republican National Committee that has been taking voter registrations has been turning around and destroying the Democratic ones before turning the Republican ones into the state. Reports have been made to the FBI as the company has been active in more than one state.

I didn't link to that, did I? I think I will now, though. That's really disturbing.

That's awful. I forwarded it to a few places, help ratchet up a bit more attention on it.

polyfrog has a link to a consolidator on this story - the short form is that the same company is running voter registration drives in a bunch of states, including MN.

Fortunately, MN has same-day registration - bring a driver's license (I assume any state-issued ID card, or your passport would be an acceptable substitute), and either a registered neighbor to vouch for your residence, or a utility bill with your name and address on it, to the polling place and they'll register you on the spot and let you vote.
