Zer Netmouse - Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
So... I don't believe I have mentioned in this forum that Brian has accepted a new post to begin this fall -- As Assistant Professor of Microbiology at York College, in York, PA. This is very exciting - just the sort of teaching post he wanted.
It is hard moving again so soon after moving back to Michigan, and harder still to move back out of the warm network of old friends and family that we enjoy here. I am trying hard to see Everyone before we move in late July. That effort looks like it will include a sojourn at Lakes of Fire, a local camp out and regional Burning Man event that friends enjoyed last year and we will be trying for the first time - taking Rosie and participating in kidsville, most likely.
Rosie meanwhile is doing well. She's in dance classes with her first recital coming up Mother's Day weekend in May, (let us know if you want ticket info), and in a swim class that she's enjoying a lot. She recently had a growth spurt that has her reaching sinks and drinking fountains by herself that she couldn't reach a month ago, and she's firmly shifted from "big for a 3-year-old" to "easily passes for a 4-year-old." She'll be 4 in August; we expect to come back to Michigan for her birthday party.
With this latest growth spurt, Rosie has firmly outgrown her 3T pants. In shirts and dresses we're sometimes getting her size 5 or 6, even, because her torso is so long, though like me, she has short arms.
I'm working on changing size in the opposite direction, getting lots of exercise at the Y and returning to the low carb diet that worked so well for me in 2007. Since mid February I've lost about 8 lbs, half an inch in the waist, and 1 inch in the hip. I'd gotten in better shape in the Fall of 2012 and then lost all that progress through the stress of the move and no regular exercise in the summer while Rosie was out of preschool and the early fall while Brian was away teaching in NM. It feels good to be getting my body back.
I'm also doing lots of contemplation of what I might want to do next professionally. I'll probably post more on that later. In the meantime, there is MUCH to figure out regarding the move.

Congratulations on the new post for Brian! And good luck in working through all the details of the move and of life...
Thanks! It's just a few details to work out... :P
a deluxe assortment of good wishes, tied with a pretty bow
Wow! That's a lot of news. Great Big Congratulations to Brian and, from a selfish viewpoint I'll mention that 335 miles beats 742 in my book. Though I certainly understand how leaving Michigan again and especially so soon after settling back there again
Go, you, on your progress with exercise and eating well, and to Rosie for her own active life. I look forward to reading more about your contemplations and cogitations about what's next professionally when that rolls around on the gi-tar.
P.S. Great icon photo of Rosie!
